Southeast Energy Authority enhances efficiency and savings for its members and public entities.
DO I QuAlIFYSoutheast Energy Authority (SEA) is part of the Southeast Gas family of Alabama public corporations that formed in 1952. SEA is a public corporation and a capital improvement cooperative district incorporated in the State of Alabama in 2019. SEA was organized to serve as a wholesale supplier of discounted long term, reliable natural gas and electricity for its members and other governmentally owned wholesale customers located within Alabama and throughout the United States.
meet our leadershipSEA completed a hybrid gas/electric prepay on behalf of Salt River Project in April 2021 and a prepaid gas transaction in June 2021 with nine natural gas participants. In June 2022 a third prepaid transaction closed with natural gas and an electricity switch option. A fourth transaction – the first of its kind – closed in October 2022 and includes all three commodity options. In 2023 SEA completed two additional transactions. Since the company’s first transaction in 2021 and through January 1, 2024, SEA is delivering an average of 94,430 MMBtu per day and 31,100 MWH per month at 13 delivery points servicing 19 municipalities across the United States.
These projects can provide multiple benefits for participants and their consumers. Rate stability, pre-paid discounts for energy purchases, and leveraged purchasing power are just a few of the ways these projects have a positive impact on participants.
